| Unfavourable economic conditions at the international level since August 2007 have had an impact also on the Greek economy. Economic developments in 2008 were driven mainly by two factors; on one hand by rising commodity and oil prices until July 2008 and, on the other, by the repercussions of the escalating financial crisis, mostly affecting macroeconomic variables in the last quarter of the year.
